Combining Rénoclimat and LogisVert: the rules to know in 2026

Last updated: October 8, 2026. The rules cited come from Québec.ca and the Hydro-Québec LogisVert participation guide (version 1.10).

Yes, you can combine Rénoclimat and LogisVert in the same project. But only for distinct work: the same work cannot be funded twice.

The most common case looks like this: you insulate your basement foundations with the help of Rénoclimat, and you install a heat pump with the help of LogisVert. Two measures, two programs, two applications.

The Government of Québec says so itself: LogisVert can be complementary to Rénoclimat. You still need to know which program pays for what, and in what order to do things.

Can you really combine Rénoclimat and LogisVert?

Yes. The two programs do not fund the same thing, which makes them complementary.

Rénoclimat, a Government of Québec program managed by the Ministry of the Environment (MELCCFP), mainly targets the building envelope. LogisVert, a Hydro-Québec program, mainly targets equipment, such as the heat pump.

Yes, but only for distinct work

ExampleLogic
Foundation insulation + heat pumpPotentially permitted stacking : two different measures
Windows + heat pumpPotentially permitted stacking : two different measures
Same roof insulation required under both programsNo : same work
Same heat pump in two programsNo : same equipment

In all cases, each measure must meet the criteria of its own program.

Why the same work cannot be declared twice

This is the basic principle of public assistance: the same dollar of work cannot be funded twice.

The LogisVert guide is clear. If your application is approved, you commit to not applying for any other subsidy, from Hydro-Québec or a government organization, for the same equipment or the same work.

If it happens anyway, the consequences are real: rejection of the application, adjustment of the assistance, or obligation to repay the amount received in excess.

The reflex to have before signing the work

Make a list of your work, one line per measure: foundation insulation, windows, heat pump, etc. Next to each line, write the single program that funds it.

If a measure appears in two columns, choose one program. Not both.

Do you have several projects to combine? First establish a clear list of measures before planning your project.

Rénoclimat or LogisVert: which program funds what?

MeasureRénoclimat (new, since Oct. 1, 2026)LogisVert (Hydro-Québec)
Roof insulationUp to $2,000 (house)$1,500 (R50 roof + full weatherstripping)
Exterior wall insulationUp to $7,000 (house)-
Foundation insulationUp to $2,500 (house)-
Windows$300/window, up to $4,500 (house)-
Air-to-air heat pump— (no longer funded since May 2024)$50 or $120 per 1,000 BTU/h at –8 °C
Fixed batteryUp to $4,000-
Flood protectionAdaptation component-

Maximum amounts for a house. The amounts are higher for duplexes, triplexes and multi-unit buildings.

The roof is the only real overlap. You will need to choose one program for this work, by comparing the criteria and the amount.

Rénoclimat: building envelope, insulation and performance

Rénoclimat funds work that keeps heat in the house: roof, wall and foundation insulation, window replacement. Since October 2026, it also funds the fixed battery and connection to a backup source.

The EnerGuide evaluation is no longer mandatory in the new Energy Efficiency pathway. It remains recommended, and assistance of up to $500 is offered to pay for it. In the old pathway, still open during the transition, it remains mandatory before the work.

LogisVert: heat pumps and eligible measures

LogisVert mainly funds the heat pump. The assistance is calculated based on the certified heating capacity at –8 °C, not based on the BTU shown on the box:

  • $50 per 1,000 BTU/h for an ENERGY STAR model;
  • $120 per 1,000 BTU/h for an ENERGY STAR cold climate model;
  • up to 220 $ for certain eligible multi-unit buildings.

Hydro-Québec shows a maximum of $6,700 for the Heat Pump measure. The device must appear on Hydro-Québec's list, and the home must be heated primarily with electricity.

Since May 2024, the heat pump is no longer funded by Rénoclimat

This is the change that creates the most confusion. Since May 1, 2024, Rénoclimat no longer offers assistance to install or replace a heating system. Heat pumps now fall under LogisVert.

Several online articles still mention Rénoclimat assistance for the heat pump. They date from before this change.

How much can be obtained by stacking both programs?

The examples below are illustrative. They assume that each measure is eligible and reaches its cap, which is not always the case.

Example 1 — basement insulation + heat pump

A 1960s bungalow in Longueuil, heated by electric baseboards. The owners insulate the basement foundation walls and install an 18,000 BTU/h cold climate wall-mounted heat pump at –8 °C.

  • Foundation insulation → Rénoclimat : up to 2,500 $
  • Heat pump → LogisVert : 18 × 120 $ = 2,160 $
  • Total potential assistance: approximately 4,660 $

The two measures are easily separated: one concerns the envelope, the other the heating equipment. Each has its own invoice and its own application.

Example 2 — windows + heat pump

A house in Laval replaces 10 windows and installs a 15,000 BTU/h cold-climate heat pump at –8 °C.

  • 10 windows → Rénoclimat : 10 × 300 $ = 3,000 $
  • Heat pump → LogisVert : 15 × 120 $ = 1,800 $
  • Total potential assistance: approximately 4,800 $

The new Rénoclimat grid provides up to 300 $ per window, with a cap of 4,500 $ for a house.

Why your actual total may be very different

Your actual assistance depends on several factors:

  • the insulated area and the performance achieved;
  • the exact heat pump model and its capacity at –8 °C;
  • the number of openings replaced;
  • the type of dwelling (house or plex);
  • the Rénoclimat pathway that applies to your file;
  • the criteria in effect on the date of the work.

Assistance also cannot exceed the actual cost of the work. With LogisVert, it is capped at 100 % of the purchase and installation cost, before taxes.

The rules that changed in 2026: beware of old articles

If you are reading an article from 2024 or early 2025, be careful. Both programs have changed a lot.

The new Rénoclimat since October 1, 2026

The main changes:

  • new grids per measure, more generous (up to 21,500 $ for a house);
  • optional energy assessment for the Energy Efficiency component;
  • licensed contractor required, with a compliance attestation form signed by the contractor;
  • new Adaptation component against flooding;
  • new portal online, with launch planned for fall 2026.

A transition period allows a file to be completed under the old pathway. To enter it, you must have requested a pre-work assessment appointment no later than October 12, 2026. The post-work assessment must then be done by March 31, 2027.

Is the Adaptation component combinable with your energy project?

The Adaptation component funds flood protection, not energy efficiency. Québec is devoting 425 M$ to it over five years.

It includes two pathways:

  • a simplified pathway : from 700 $ to 1,000 $ per measure for a backwater valve, a submersible pump with battery, or a flood barrier;
  • a accompanied pathway, in a recognized flood zone: up to 35,000 $ or 75 % of eligible expenses, after a mandatory diagnosis.

The same basement project can therefore fall under two Rénoclimat components: foundation insulation (Efficiency) and the backwater valve (Adaptation). These are two different measures, to be documented separately.

LogisVert continues to evolve

The list of eligible heat pumps changes. Some measures disappear, such as the efficient pool pump, removed on November 30, 2026.

A 5 % bonus applies if you combine at least two LogisVert measures in the same application, for example a heat pump and roof insulation. Note: it does not combine with the Multilogements bonus, and it applies only to LogisVert measures, not to those of Rénoclimat.

In what order should you proceed to avoid a refusal?

Step 1 — Define all the project measures

Write each measure separately: foundation insulation, windows, heat pump, valve. A vague project leads to vague invoices, and vague invoices delay applications.

Step 2 — Determine which program corresponds to each measure

Use the table above. One measure, one program. For roof insulation, compare the two options and choose.

Step 3 — Complete the required assessment before the work

It depends on your pathway:

  • Former Rénoclimat pathway: the pre-work assessment is mandatory. Work done before does not count.
  • New Energy Efficiency component: optional, but recommended. Work must be carried out after October 1, 2026.
  • Accompanied pathway of the Adaptation component: the resilience diagnosis comes before the work.
  • LogisVert: no assessment required, but check the model's eligibility before purchase.

If in doubt, do not start anything before confirming your pathway.

Step 4 — Choose eligible equipment and contractors

For the heat pump: an ENERGY STAR model listed on Hydro-Québec's list, purchased in Québec, installed by a company holding the required RBQ licences.

For Rénoclimat work: a contractor holding the appropriate licences, who personally completes and signs the compliance certificate. Verify each licence in the RBQ registry.

Step 5 — Keep all documentation

Carefully keep:

  • detailed invoices, broken down by measure;
  • the Rénoclimat compliance certificate;
  • the photo of the heat pump nameplate and its AHRI or ENERGY STAR number;
  • product data sheets (windows, insulation);
  • assessment or diagnosis reports, if applicable;
  • photos before, during and after the work.

For LogisVert, the application must be made within 9 months of installation.

Before starting your renovation, have the work structured by measure so you know which steps must be carried out first.

«I can claim the same insulation under both programs»

False. This is the typical case of double funding. Choose the program that best suits your work.

«Rénoclimat still funds my heat pump»

False since May 2024. The heat pump goes through LogisVert.

«I can start the work and sort out the programs later»

Risky. In the former Rénoclimat pathway, work done before the assessment is not eligible. And a heat pump not listed on Hydro-Québec's list will never be eligible, regardless of when you apply.

«All amounts announced online are guaranteed»

False. They are caps. The model, installation date, type of dwelling and criteria in effect determine the actual assistance.

«An old 2024 page still explains the 2026 rules»

False. Always check the update date, and prioritize Québec.ca and Hydro-Québec.

Special case: basement renovation in Montréal and on the South Shore

Why the basement is a strategic point

In many homes in the Greater Montreal area, foundation walls are poorly insulated or not insulated at all. The result: a cold floor in winter, humidity, and a Hydro-Québec bill that climbs in January.

Insulating foundations improves comfort, reduces heat loss and makes the basement truly livable. It is also an eligible measure under Rénoclimat.

How to integrate insulation into a basement renovation

The right time to insulate is before closing the walls. Once the drywall is installed and painted, going back costs a lot.

In a basement renovation, project, you can plan from the start for foundation insulation, moisture management and the location of a heat pump unit if you add one. Each measure remains clearly identified on the invoice, which makes your applications easier.

And what if the property is in a flood-risk zone?

Properties on the South Shore and in the Montérégie near the river or a stream, as well as Montreal basements exposed to backflow, have another issue: water.

In that case, the Adaptation component can be added to the project: backflow preventer, battery backup pump, or more complex work in a recognized flood zone. Keep the distinction clear: insulation falls under energy efficiency, water protection falls under adaptation.

Are you renovating a basement in Longueuil, Montreal or on the South Shore? Have the sequence of work evaluated before closing the walls.

FAQ — Combining Rénoclimat and LogisVert

Can Rénoclimat and LogisVert be combined?

Yes, for separate work. For example, foundation insulation with Rénoclimat and a heat pump with LogisVert. The same work cannot be funded twice.

What work can be funded by Rénoclimat?

Roof, wall and foundation insulation, window replacement, the fixed battery and connection to a backup power source. The Adaptation component also funds certain flood protection measures.

Does LogisVert still fund heat pumps in 2026?

Yes. LogisVert offers $50 or $120 per 1,000 BTU/h at –8 °C depending on certification, for an eligible model.

Does Rénoclimat still pay for part of a heat pump?

No. Since May 1, 2024, Rénoclimat no longer funds heating systems. Heat pumps fall under LogisVert.

Do you need to do the EnerGuide evaluation before the work?

In the new Energy Efficiency component of Rénoclimat, it is optional but recommended. In the old pathway, still in transition, it remains mandatory before the work. LogisVert does not require it.

Can assistance for basement insulation be combined with a heat pump?

Yes. Foundation insulation falls under Rénoclimat, the heat pump under LogisVert. These are two separate measures.

Can the same window be claimed under two programs?

No. A window can only be funded once. In any case, LogisVert does not fund window replacement.

Did Rénoclimat rules change in October 2026?

Yes. Since October 1, 2026, the amounts are higher, the evaluation is optional for the Efficiency component, a licensed contractor is mandatory and an Adaptation component is added.

How much can you receive for a heat pump with LogisVert?

It depends on the certified capacity at –8 °C. For example, an 18,000 BTU/h cold-climate model gives $2,160. Hydro-Québec shows a maximum of $6,700.

How can you verify the conditions before starting the work?

Consult Québec.ca for Rénoclimat and the Hydro-Québec website for LogisVert, checking the update date. Customer service for each program can also confirm your pathway.

Do you already know your planned work?

Combining Rénoclimat and LogisVert is mainly a matter of order and documentation. A project that is well broken down, measure by measure, gets off to a good start.
